Of Women, Colour and love for life

I was born in Lleida within a family linked to the arts and sport. At 14 I became part of the Spanish team of rhythmic gymnastics, becoming a world champion in Athens (Greece, 1991) and European Champion in Stuttgart (Germany, 1992).

Once I retired from gymnastics, I studied graphic design at the IDEP School of Barcelona. I worked for an advertising communication agency for five years, until I decided to start painting , developing "All the Women ...", a series of portraits with a fetishist tone, painted in acrylic on wood, with pop art, comics and advertising influences.

«I'm still fetishist with women in general, whether actresses, gymnasts, mothers, or my neighbour the florist, often granted extraordinary virtues»

The arrival of motherhood in my life makes my work more personal and poetic, welcoming the illustration with pencils and watercolors, and the representation of the female body as a tool of maximum freedom of expression through dance.

In a nostalgic return to my childhood, I publish Pinceladas de Rítmica, a book tribute to rhythmic gymnastics through the illustrated portraits of the best gymnasts in history. A debt and a statement of love that I sign with my brother, the professional musician, Manel Martín. A book that today is a reference for lovers of this sport.

I have developed different editorial projects, as designer and illustrator, for the Editorial Group Penguin Random House, and such works as the Olympia Story Series, based on the sporting career of the gymnast Almudena Cid, with great reception by children and teenage audiences and the Diario de Lola, by the bestselling author Elisabet Benavent, among many others.

In 2019 I created MMRitmic, a brand of gifts for lovers of rhythmic gymnastics. At present I have been seduced by digital illustration, which mixes watercolours and acrylics.

Insecurity is my engine, self-esteem my poison against fears.
